چکیده

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is steadily becoming a common mode for commercializing natural gas. Due to the capital intensive nature of LNG projects, the optimal design of LNG supply chains is extremely important from a profitability perspective. Motivated by the need for a model that can assist in the design analysis of LNG supply chains, we address an LNG inventory routing problem where optimized ship schedules have to be developed for an LNG project. In this paper, we present an arc-flow formulation based on the MIP model of Song and Furman [17]. We also present a set of construction and improvement heuristics to solve this model efficiently. The heuristics are evaluated based on a set of realistic test instances that are very large relative to the problem instances seen in recent literature related to this problem. Extensive computational results indicate that the proposed methods are computationally efficient in finding optimal or near optimal solutions and are substantially faster than state-of-the-art commercial optimization software.

Considering Production Planning in the Multi-period Inventory Routing Problem with Transshipment between Retailers

Generally, the inventory routing problem occurs in a supply chain where customers consider the supplier responsible for inventory replenishment. In this situation, the supplier finds the answer to questions regarding the time and quantity of delivery to the customer as well as the sequence of customers in the routes. Considering the effect of production decisions on answering these questions, t...

Bound Improvement for LNG Inventory Routing

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is steadily becoming a common mode for commercializing natural gas. In this paper, we develop methods for improving both lower and upper bounds for a previously stated form of an LNG inventory routing problem. A Dantzig-Wolfe-based decomposition approach is developed for LNG inventory routing problem (LNG-IRP) attempting to overcome poor lower bounds. However, it fai...

A novel heuristic algorithm for capacitated vehicle routing problem

The vehicle routing problem with the capacity constraints was considered in this paper. It is quite difficult to achieve an optimal solution with traditional optimization methods by reason of the high computational complexity for large-scale problems. Consequently, new heuristic or metaheuristic approaches have been developed to solve this problem. In this paper, we constructed a new heuristic ...

A Two-Phase Hybrid Heuristic Method for a Multi-Depot Inventory-Routing Problem

In this study, a two phase hybrid heuristic approach was proposed to solve the multi-depot multi-vehicle inventory routing problem (MDMVIRP). Inventory routing problem (IRP) is one of the major issues in the supply chain networks that arise in the context of vendor managed systems (VMI) The MDMVIRP combines inventory management and routing decision. We are given on input a fleet of homogeneous ...
